FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
What makes Eagle Star different from other roofing companies?
We hold two licenses that most roofers don't: a state roofing contractor license AND a state public adjuster license. That means we don't just build roofs - we represent homeowners in insurance claims. The team fighting your insurance company and the crew building your roof are under one company. No handoffs. No miscommunication. No separate firms to coordinate.
Do you handle my insurance claim for me?
Yes - completely. We inspect the damage, file the claim, meet with your insurance company's adjuster, submit supplements for anything they miss or undervalue, manage the build, and handle the depreciation recovery after the work is done. You sign the authorization and we take it from there.
What does the free inspection include?
We inspect your roof, siding, gutters, fascia, and soffit for storm damage. We photograph and measure everything, and provide a full report of our findings. If there's no damage, we tell you honestly and leave. No charge either way.
What if my insurance claim is denied?
Denial isn't always the end. Insurance companies deny claims for many reasons - some valid, some not. As licensed public adjusters, we review your denial, gather additional documentation, and can reopen or appeal the claim. Many denied claims are overturned with proper documentation and professional advocacy.
How much does a new roof cost me out of pocket?
If your claim is approved, you pay your deductible - typically $1,000 to $2,500 for wind and hail coverage in Illinois. The rest is paid by your insurance company. Our inspection and claim management are free. We don't get paid until your insurance pays.
What is recoverable depreciation and why does it matter?
When your insurance company approves a claim, they initially pay the Actual Cash Value (ACV) - the replacement cost minus depreciation for the age of your roof. After the work is completed, they owe you the depreciation back. This is called "recoverable depreciation" and it can be thousands of dollars. Most policies require you to complete the work and request the release within 12 to 24 months. Miss the deadline and the money is gone. We track this for every project and make sure you get every dollar.
How long does the whole process take?
From inspection to completed roof, most projects take 2 to 6 weeks depending on insurance company response time, material availability, and weather. We file the claim within 48 hours of finding damage and push for the fastest timeline your carrier allows.
What areas do you serve?
We serve Greater Chicagoland, including McHenry, Cook, Lake, and DuPage counties. Our home base is Crystal Lake, and we regularly work in Schaumburg, Arlington Heights, Naperville, Algonquin, Lake in the Hills, Cary, Woodstock, and surrounding communities.
What is a preventive maintenance program?
Beyond storm restoration, Eagle Star offers ongoing property care - scheduled inspections, gutter cleaning, minor repair work, and seasonal preparation to extend the life of your roof and exterior. Think of it as a wellness plan for your home. We catch small problems before they become insurance claims.
What manufacturer certifications do you hold?
We work with the top roofing manufacturers in the industry - GAF, CertainTeed, and Owens Corning. These partnerships give our customers access to enhanced warranties that cover both materials and workmanship, because the manufacturer trusts our installation quality enough to stand behind it.
